well...
I MADE IT CHINA!
right now i'm in a city called QinHuangDao, it's about 4 hours north by bus from BeiJing, which in turn is about a 2 hour flight from ShangHai, where we first flew in, which is about 13 hours from Los Angeles, which is about a 2 1/2 hour flight from Denver, which is about an hour and a half drive from my house...
so as you can tell i have done a nasty bit of travel in the past week.
we are in our training phase right now.
i won't actually be in QingHuangDao for very long. only about another week and a half. which really is to bad because the public college campus i'm staying on is beautiful. (ill show plenty of pictures later... i packed my camera transfer wire in another bag! which we don't have here).
i wish you could be here... the temp is a balmy 89 degrees, theres plenty of sunshine, and the constant chirp of crickets and locusts pirched atop cherry blossoms and weeping willows.
people do a good bit of staring also, it's pretty amusing! when we visited TianAn'Min Square and The Forbidden City (again, i wish i had my camera wire so you could see pictures! - soon ;-) all of these Chinese people kept taking sneaky pictures of us when our backs were turned. a couple people even wanted to take a picture with yours truly! maybe it's because i told them i was Vin Deisel...
the street vendors are crazy too, they seriosuly don't stop. way worse than what i have seen anywhere else. i think they think because i can tell them i don't want what they're selling in Chinese, they assume i'm trying to play their little bargaining game with them... well, i wasn't. there was one lade who thought i needed some of her fans, and for the next 5 or 6 mintues she followed me rattling of prices, each one CONSIDERABLY less then the previous... here's a little tip, you want something sheap from a vendor in China, offer them a 10th of thier first offer, NO JOKE, otherwise you are getting the ripped the crap off!
i did, in retrospect, wish i bought one thing though... this guy was selling these Mao watches where the second hand was Mao's arm waiving at you from the watch face... it was pretty sweet.
anywho, i'm off to lunch!
more later and i love you all!

Stephen,
Good to hear that you managed to reach the far east (by going west) successfully. I'm sure you'll experience all sorts of wonderful new things, but whatever you do, make sure to spend the majority of your time on the computer, updating your blog - that's priority one! :)
Anyway, good luck with everything - maybe I'll come see you in the Spring if things work out.
Zai jian,
